Unsmoked Castello Old Antiquari Bulldog

Unsmoked Castello Old Antiquari Bulldog

This Item is Reserved

Description, Markings, Measurements:

Carlo Scotti carved the first Castello pipe in 1947. As a pioneer in high grade pipes, Castello has produced some of the finest, and most sought after Italian pipes in the world. Using only the best "extra-extra" grade briar, aged for at least 6 yrs, Castello set the bar in quality and craftsmanship against which all other Italian pipes are judged. Many other great Italian pipe brands can trace their roots back to Castello.

The shape #56 was the very first Castello shape, and no one does it better! This one is an unsmoked “Old Antiquari” grade, featuring a well-defined, wavy ringgrain sandblast, smooth rim and Lucite stick-bit and briar ferrule cup. Light in weight, this one is sure to be a favorite in any rotation! This is a new, unsmoked U.S. piece, and fully covered by the Castello warranty.

Markings read: CASTELLO, OLD ANTIQUARI, KKKK (in oval), US, Carlo Scotti (in an oval), MADE IN CANTU' ITALY. Lucite stem features the white bar logo and briar cup is lightly stamped "HAND MADE CASTELLO ". Measurements: 6" long, bowl is 1 1/2" wide and 2" tall. About a Dunhill larger group 4 or small 5 in capacity.

Condition:

9.9 out of 10. Unsmoked. Nomenclature is overstamped and light in spots, and there are a couple of very light handling marks on the briar ferrule cup. That’s it. A very nice example of its breed.
