Ser Jacopo is one of the most influential Italian brands to be formed in the past 20 years. Giancarlo Guidi started Ser Jacopo in 1982 after leaving another company he formed called Mastro De Paja (perhaps you have heard of it?). The amount of knowledge and passion this man possesses is evident in the pipes he makes.
The “Gepetto” by Ser Jacopo is a series of 15 rusticated shapes; an excellent introduction to the Ser Jacopo line of pipes. This particular Gepetto is a classic poker shape, featuring craggy carving, smooth rim, flat bottom and acrylic saddle stem.
Markings read: GEPETTO, Italy, hand made, J (in circle). Measurements: 5 1/2" long, bowl is 1 1/2" wide and 2 1/4" tall. About a Dunhill larger group 5 in capacity.
Condition:
9 out of 10. Issues: Some darkening and moderate rounding on the inner rim edge at the twelve o’clock position, a couple of tiny knock marks on the rim proper, and a few dings and scratches on the flat bottom. Any way you look at it, it’s a heck of a pipe for $85.
