LUCIANO PIPES

Luciano Pipes are the brainchild of Luca Di Piazza, who is the Radice and Posella representative and also runs his own retail website out of Italy.  The brand was started in 2007 as a way to create interesting, creative interpretations on classic shapes for a reasonable price.  Starting with machine-formed bowls of aged, quality wood, a craftsman then does all the drilling by hand, selecting a pre-formed Lucite stem, hand-turning the tenon, fitting the pieces together and then hand finishing the entire pipe (including shaping the button, a critical part of any quality pipe.)  Putty is never used; if there are any serious flaws, a pipe is either sandblasted or rusticated by hand.  The result is a good quality, hand-finished pipe that can be had for under $130; in fact, most Lucianos retail in price from $70 to $90.
